Policy and strategy

Universities for the North East facilitates and contributes to the development of joint policies and approaches to regional agendas, ensuring that the partners are individually and collectively active participants in the development and delivery of relevant regional and related strategies.

Universities for the North East is a member of the Higher Level Skills Board, a working group of the Regional and Employment and Skills Partnership, Skills North East. The Higher Level Skills Board provides a platform for partners, providers, stakeholders and funding organisations to come together and discuss strategic higher level skills issues.

Universities for the North East has also played a role in the development and roll out of Innovation Connectors. Reflecting the region's technological strengths in energy, process technology and healthcare, Innovation Connectors enable the development of world class facilities, new approaches to integrating business and universities, engaging with the community through education and access to employment initiatives.
