What we do
A. Role of Universities for the North East
- Identify and support cross-university collaborative activities with government, business, public, educational and voluntary sector organisations
- Identify and support collaborative partnerships with North East regional stakeholders to maximise the universities' contribution to the economic, social and cultural life of the region
- Help raise aspirations and widen participation in higher education particularly from disadvantaged groups in the North East
- Support collaborative activities which further develop the region's universities' academic provision and related activities
- Enhance employer engagement in higher education with a view to increasing the higher level skills base within the North East region in line with changing employer needs
- Support North East collaborative research activities with the aim of enhancing the quantity, quality and reputation of research in the region's universities
- Support knowledge transfer and enterprise activities with the aim of maximising the universities' contribution to innovation and wealth creation in support of North East business development and the regional economy
- Act as a major point of contact and effective voice for the region's universities in and beyond the region

- Helping companies access the facilities and expertise within the universities through Knowledge House
- Supporting progression into higher education through Aimhigher
- Helping promote employer engagement in higher level skills development with the universities through North East Higher Skills Pathfinder.
- Supporting cultural development in the region through the North East Universities Cultural Development Project
